Dory panics, asking other fish for help in finding "them," but her memory problem makes her forget who she was looking for.

Asking herself what Dory would do, she begins to look around, heading to a kelp field. She despairs, remarking that there is nothing but kelp until she spots some shells in the sand.

Remembering that following shells would bring her home when she younger, she follows the trail to see more trails of shells, all leading to the same point.

At this point, Dory sees two fish swimming toward her, and is finally reunited with her parents.

They have an emotional reunion, with Dory apologizing for her problem her memory loss and remarking that she has tried to fix it.

Her parents reassure her that she has nothing to apologize for and that she has finally found them and they had been waiting for all this time, making shell trails to guide her home.

When they ask her if she had been by herself for all that time, she remembers Marlin and Nemo, and that they have been taken to the truck.

Inside the truck, Marlin and Nemo ask if anyone saw where Dory went, spotting a fish they think is Dory until it turns out to be Hank in disguise.

He apologizes for losing her as the truck doors close. Dory, in the ocean, heads back towards the Institute with her parents to rescue her friends, recounting their tales from Finding Nemo along the way.

Jenny and Charlie do not think that they will be able to help, but Dory says that she misses them and that they are family, convincing them to help.

Dory says that meeting Marlin and Nemo was destiny, reminding her of the whale, Destiny, who she calls to. Inside their enclosure, Destiny and Bailey hear Dory and escape their tanks, leaping over a wall to help her.

Fluke and Rubber leave their rock to follow them, joining in on the chase to stop the quarantine truck as it heads towards the freeway.

At a bridge, Dory asks a group of otters for help in stopping traffic and tells Destiny to flip her up onto the truck when she asks.

Dory's parents worry that she is leaving them again, but she tells them even if she forgets, she can find them again. Destiny flips Dory up onto the bridge where the group of otters is waiting, one of them catching her in its paws.

She instructs the otters to have a cuddle party, stopping the traffic on the bridge, which includes the quarantine truck.

The otters break into the quarantine truck, reuniting Dory with Marlin and Nemo, as well as Hank, who scoops her up and drops her back into the tank of blue tang.

Nemo tells Dory he thought they would never see her again, but she remarks that she could not live without the rest of her family.

Marlin calls Becky for help, but she leaves Dory behind, dropping Marlin and Nemo into the ocean with the rest of the gang.

He manages to send Becky back for Dory, inside the truck, where Hank tried to say his goodbyes. Dory tells him that he is not going to "the Cleveland" and is instead coming to the ocean to live with her.

He argues, but Dory convinces him to come with her instead. As they try to leave, the truck's doors close, and it drives off with them still inside.

Hank and Dory escape through the roof of the truck and get into the cabin, where Hank attempts to drive the truck. They escape, driving the wrong way back down the freeway, hitting a roadblock before veering off and driving the whole truck into the ocean, freeing all the other fish, and Becky, as well.

Dory, along with Marlin, Nemo, and her parents, head back to the reef, where they play a game of hide and seek, although Dory forgets what it is they were doing before she remembers and finds both pairs, along with Nemo's class.

Destiny and Bailey pop out, remarking that Dory had not found them, as Hank gathers the class back up. A student inquiries after Mr.

Ray, whom the viewers find out has gone to join in the stingray migration. Hank remarks that if Mr.

Ray is smart, he will stay away for a long time, and until he is back, Hank is the teacher. Bailey asks who wants to learn about echolocation, upon which the students groan.

Dory's parents leave for a swim, and when Marlin asks Dory if they are going home, she remarks that she is going to the drop-off.

Marlin panics, thinking she is going to swim off again, and follows her, stopping her to ask if it is a good idea. She tells him that she is going to enjoy the view, and he lets her go, although he follows her.

At the drop-off, Dory and Marlin enjoy the view, and Marlin says that Dory has done it. The film flashbacks briefly to Dory and her parents, who tell her she can do anything.

Dory agrees, and Marlin says that it really is quite a view, to which Dory remarks "unforgettable. In , after disagreements between Disney's Michael Eisner and Pixar's Steve Jobs over the distribution of Pixar's films, Disney announced that they would be creating a new animation studio, Circle 7 Animation , to make sequels to the seven Disney-owned Pixar films which consisted of the films released between and The studio had put Toy Story 3 and Monsters, Inc.

In July , it was reported that Andrew Stanton was developing a sequel to Finding Nemo , with Victoria Strouse writing the script and a schedule to be released in However, the same day the news of a potential sequel broke, director Andrew Stanton posted a message on his personal Twitter calling into question the accuracy of these reports.

The message said, "Didn't you all learn from Chicken Little? Everyone calm down. Don't believe everything you read.

Nothing to see here now. In September , it was confirmed by Stanton saying: "What was immediately on the list was writing a second Carter movie.

When that went away, everything slid up. I know I'll be accused by more sarcastic people that it's a reaction to Carter not doing well, but only in its timing, but not in its conceit.

I was always 'No sequels, no sequels. Sequels are part of the necessity of our staying afloat, but we don't want to have to go there for those reasons.

We want to go there creatively, so we said to Disney , 'Can you give us the timeline about when we release them? Because we'd like to release something we actually want to make, and we might not come up with it the year you want it.

The film's ending was revised after Pixar executives viewed Blackfish , a documentary film which focuses on dangers of keeping orca whales in captivity.

Initially, some of the characters would end in a SeaWorld-like marine park, but the revision gave them the option to leave. On September 18, , it was announced that the film would be pushed back to a June 17, , release.

Pixar's The Good Dinosaur was moved to the November 25 , slot in order to allow more time for production of the film.

The score was composed by Thomas Newman. The soundtrack was released on the same date as the film, and includes Sia's cover version of " Unforgettable ".

Finding Dory was released in theaters on June 17 , , marking the 30th anniversary of Pixar. The DVD release includes the short film, Piper.

The scene then cuts to Baby Dory lost in the ocean. As Dory grows up on her own, she asks many fish to help her find her way back to her family, only to forget what she was asking them for help.

This eventually leads to her meeting a clownfish named Marlin and helping him rescue his son named Nemo. The story then cuts to one year after the original film.

Dory has become a helping hand in raising Nemo. One day, while with Nemo's class, Dory remembers that she has a family.

She longs to find her parents, though she finds it hard to rely on her short-term memory loss. The only thing she remembers is that they lived at the Jewel of Morro Bay, California.

Marlin and Nemo accompany Dory in her quest. With the help of Crush , they ride the water current to California. On arrival, they are forced to flee from a predatory giant squid that nearly devours Nemo.

Afterwards, Marlin tends to his son, and is sour toward Dory for getting them into the mess. Hurt, Dory travels to the surface to seek help and is rescued by the Marine Life Institute after being caught in six pack rings, becoming separated from Marlin and Nemo.

Dory is sent to the Quarantine section and tagged. There she meets a grouchy, seven-tentacled octopus named Hank.

Dory's tag shows that she will be sent to a permanent aquarium in Cleveland. Due to a traumatic ocean life, Hank wants to continue living in an aquarium, so he agrees to help Dory find her parents in exchange for her tag.

In one exhibit, Dory encounters her childhood friend, Destiny , a nearsighted whale shark who communicated with Dory through pipes, and Bailey a beluga whale who believes he is unable to echolocate.

Dory learns from Destiny that she lived with her parents at the Open Ocean Exhibit, and makes Hank travel with her.

She subsequently has flashbacks of life with her parents, and struggles to improve her memory, which help her solve certain situations.

When she helps Hank get out of the touch pool, they bond with each other. Hank safely puts Dory into the open ocean exhibit. Marlin and Nemo attempt to rescue Dory.

With the help of sea lions Fluke and Rudder and a common loon named Becky , they manage to get into the Institute.

Dory finally remembers how she became separated from her parents: she had overheard her mother crying out of concern for her, left her home to retrieve a shell in hopes of cheering her up, and was pulled away by the undertow.

She then learns that all the blue tangs are being shipped to Cleveland from Quarantine. Dory is given directions to Quarantine through pipes by Destiny and Bailey: Bailey finally uses echolocation to find directions and Destiny echoes the directions through the pipes.

Dory reunites with Marlin and Nemo in the pipe system. Back in Quarantine, they locate the tank of blue tangs, who tell her that her parents escaped to search for Dory and never came back.

Dory believes her parents are dead. Hank retrieves Dory from the tank, leaving Marlin and Nemo behind.

He is then apprehended by one of the employees and accidentally drops Dory into the drain that takes her to the ocean.

Dory comes across a trail of shells, remembering that when she was young, her parents had set out a similar trail for her so that she could always follow it and find her way back home.

At the end of the trail, Dory finds her parents, Charlie, and Jenny, and joyfully reunites with them. They tell her they have spent years forming trails of shells for her to follow in the hopes that she would eventually find them.

Marlin and Nemo end up in the truck that will take the fish to Cleveland. Destiny and Bailey help Dory in rescuing them. With great difficulty and a lot of hurdles, Dory, Marlin, Nemo and other fish on the truck including Hank, after persuasion by Dory make it to the ocean.

In a post-credits scene, the Tank Gang , who are still trapped in their now algae-covered plastic bags, reach California after a year of floating across the Pacific Ocean.

Todd McCarthy Jun 10, While rambunctious and passably humorous, this offspring isn't nearly as imaginative and nimble-minded as the forerunner that spawned it.

Finding Dory is a amusing, touching, moving and a intriguing film that delivers an amazing animation that Pixar is known for and a significant This sequel might not be as great as the original but that doesn't mean the film is bad but instead its another Pixar movie that deserve the praise.

Finding Dory is a amusing, touching, moving and a intriguing film that delivers an amazing animation that Pixar is known for and a significant continuation of it's predecessor.

The voice works here are appreciable and the characters are just lovable and entertaining. This sequel will feel identical from it's predecessor but some of it are new additions that were worthy enough to make this film great and a touching moments that made people weep.

Finding Dory is another example that there is more ideas in a franchise if the people making it has effort and passion to do it. Finding Dory might have some identical story and a some emotional scenes that didn't intrigue audiences but overall the film is near to the "one of the best animated films" very very very, very far from the worst.

Kirollos-Noah Nov 29, And I'm very happy that the movie was just as I expected, and more actually. It has a big package of emotions!

I literally felt a lot of emotions, I enjoyed, laughed, cried and smiled. It's hard to find such a decent movie, like Finding Dory!

The animation improved very much, it's an eye-comforting animation, with its colors, details and the sea Everything went very awesome with the animation!

The sense of humor was so unique and funny. The story was so related and tight together, in a way that made clap for each chapter in this movie!

It was so emotional and unique! The voices were very very excellent! The characters are memorable and great! Finding Dory is an excellent example of a sequel done right and deserves to be the highest grossing animated movie of all time domestically.

The characters were great and the reveal of Dory's backstory in small increments was a brilliant strategy. I liked the conflict in this movie on top of Finding Dory is an excellent example of a sequel done right and deserves to be the highest grossing animated movie of all time domestically.

I liked the conflict in this movie on top of that. Sure, there are a series of events that happen, but there's as much happening externally as there is internally, which is why this movie works so well the begin with.

As with almost all Pixar movies, the animation is pristine. However, I think the ending, though enjoyable, lets the movie down a bit, as it is a little too silly.

Furthermore, it takes a little too long setting things up in the beginning. It's worthy of a seal of approval, but I can't finish without mentioning the short, "Piper.

It is not only exemplary, but it is the very definition of cinema. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if it wins an Oscar for best animated short.

Definitely check that out and watch Finding Dory, this year's greatest sequel thus far. Rebecca31 Jul 30, Pixar gave us a perfect movie with Finding Nemo and now 13 years later we finally get a sequel.

Essentially the same storyline but with a different fish, taking a lovable character and adding more depth and emotion than you could imagine.

All the voice actors are terrific and give it their Pixar gave us a perfect movie with Finding Nemo and now 13 years later we finally get a sequel.

All the voice actors are terrific and give it their all. It's funny, heartwarming and highly recommended.

The short before the movie, Piper is simply stunning. Panchogul May 19, PopcornandaCoke Jun 18, Another review said it best and I will confirm those comments.

This movie is decent and kids will enjoy it, but it is a recycle of the original and has the feel and story-quality of a sequel better released directly to DVD.

Finding Dory is full of color and cuteness but overwhelmed with Another review said it best and I will confirm those comments.

Finding Dory is full of color and cuteness but overwhelmed with far-fetched scenarios that fell hollow and contrived to me. I was not terribly impressed and remember thinking after seeing Finding Nemo that it was a movie better left without a sequel.

Disney might have done better with a sequel with a little more of a statement about the condition of our oceans and a thicker plot.
